Vauxhall Adam check engine light and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Vauxhall Adam with a gasoline engine is experiencing a check engine light and occasional stalling at idle. The initial suspicion is a potential issue with the EVAP system, specifically the activated charcoal filter in the fuel tank ventilation system. After checking for vacuum leaks and consulting with others, it is suggested to have the vehicle diagnosed by a professional. The problem is confirmed to be a defective activated charcoal filter, which is then replaced to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't noticed any unusual smells. Where exactly is the activated charcoal filter located? And is there a way to test it before replacing it?

On my Peugeot, it was near the fuel tank, but the Adam might be different. Honestly, testing it without proper equipment is tricky. Given your symptoms and the potential for EVAP system issues, I'd recommend getting it checked by a workshop. A proper diagnosis will save you time and potential misdiagnosis.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to a local shop, and it was indeed a defective activated charcoal filter. The repair cost 275€. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar problem with my old Peugeot 208. Check engine light and stalling sounds familiar. It might be the activated charcoal filter in the fuel tank ventilation system. If it's defective, it can cause issues with the air flow and trigger the pressure sensor, leading to system failure. Have you noticed any unusual fuel smells?
