Vauxhall Adam gearbox slipping
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Vauxhall Adam with a gasoline engine is experiencing gearbox slipping and unclean shifting, suspected to be due to a transfer case oil wear fault. The issue is accompanied by gear grinding noises, suggesting possible defective gears in the transfer case. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle diagnosed and repaired at a workshop to prevent escalating repair costs, which was confirmed as the cause and resolved with a repair.

The oil level seemed normal, but I haven't drained it to check for metal shavings. Gear grinding is present, yes. What was the cause in your case?

Ah, that's a key point. My problem turned out to be defective gears in the transfer case. Considering your symptoms and the grinding, I'd strongly suggest taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. Don't delay too long; the repair costs tend to escalate if you keep driving it.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the shop as you suggested. Defective gears, just like you said. Repair cost was 330€. Appreciate your help!

Interesting. I've seen similar issues with the Adam. It's like when you're running low on engine oil – things just don't move as smoothly. Have you checked the oil? What did you find? Any gear grinding noises?
