Vauxhall Adam MAF Sensor Symptoms

I'm having trouble with my 2014 Vauxhall Adam (gasoline engine) at 30709 km. I think it's a bad mass air flow meter (MAF) because of higher fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, check engine light, and smoke when accelerating. Could this be the MAF sensor?

Sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms with my Adam, though I didn't know what was wrong right away. The engine stalling was the worst. Did you notice if the air-fuel ratio seemed off, like maybe it was running rich? I'm no mechanic, but I eventually figured it out. How's the performance otherwise?

Thanks. I haven't measured the air-fuel ratio, but a rich condition seems likely. Besides those things, the overall performance has declined noticeably. What fixed the issue for you?

So, for me, the symptoms started pretty gradually. At first, I thought the poor fuel economy was just my driving, haha! Eventually, it got really bad, and the check engine light was always on. The stalling was getting to be dangerous! I tried a few things, but it ended up being easier to just take it to a workshop. They confirmed it was a bad MAF sensor and replaced it. It sounds like you have the same thing.

I appreciate your help; it confirms my suspicions. I had the MAF sensor replaced at a workshop, as you suggested. The total repair cost was 365€. The symptoms have now subsided, and the car is performing normally.
