Vauxhall Adam oil pressure warning

I've got a 2014 Vauxhall Adam with a gasoline engine and I'm facing a worrying issue. The oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up, and I'm hearing some pretty loud mechanical noises coming from the engine. The car has about 140048 km on it. I've checked for any obvious oil leakage, but nothing seems out of the ordinary. Could it be the oil pressure sensor acting up, or is it something more serious like the oil pump?

That sounds familiar! I had a similar scare with my Adam. Low oil pressure can be a real headache. Have you checked the oil level itself? Is the oil pressure gauge showing anything unusual before the warning light comes on?

Yeah, the oil level seems fine, I checked it twice. As for the oil pressure gauge, my Adam doesn't actually have one, just the warning light. What exactly was the issue with your Adam when you had similar symptoms?

Well, in my case, it turned out to be a defect in the oil pump. Given the loud noises you're hearing along with the low oil pressure warning, it's unfortunately pointing in that direction. I'd strongly advise getting it checked out by a workshop as soon as possible. Continuing to drive it could cause serious engine damage, you know?

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were right, it was the oil pump. Ended up costing me 755€ to get it fixed. Appreciate the heads-up!
