Vauxhall Adam rough running exhaust smell

Hi, my 2015 Vauxhall Adam with a gasoline engine is showing some worrying signs. The check engine light is on, the engine runs rough, and I can smell exhaust fumes even inside the car. Mileage is at 146858 km. I suspect an exhaust treatment malfunction, maybe a bad lambda sensor? Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Adam – rough running and strong exhaust smell. Check engine light was also lit. You might want to check the exhaust pipe for leaks, but it could be other things too.

Did you manage to solve it yourself, or did you need to take it to a shop? And was it the lambda sensor?

Honestly, I poked around a bit, but ended up taking it to a workshop. Turned out to be the lambda sensor indeed. They sorted it out pretty quick.

Thanks for the info! Took it to a mechanic and it was indeed the lambda sensor. Repair cost me 375€. Runs smoothly now.
