Vauxhall Adam System Readiness Check Error

I'm pulling my hair out! I've got a 2014 Vauxhall Adam, gasoline engine, and I'm getting a super annoying 'System readiness check incomplete' error. It's showing up both as a stored error when I hook up an OBD2 reader and as a warning light on the speedometer. The car has 239740 km. Any ideas?

I had something similar happen with my Adam. System readiness, or OBD readiness as some call it, basically means the car's computer hasn't completed all its self-tests since the last time the error memory was cleared. Did you recently disconnect the battery or have any work done that might have reset the computer?

That's interesting! No, I haven't disconnected the battery. The only thing I did was plug in that OBD2 reader to check for an unrelated fault code. Could just reading the car's computer trigger this 'system readiness' thing?

Yep, that's exactly what happened to me. Reading the data with an OBD2 scanner can sometimes interrupt the readiness tests. The usual fix is just to drive the car and let the tests complete, but it sounds like yours isn't doing that. Probably best to have the car inspected.

That makes perfect sense. I took the car in, and they just cleared the code, and said to drive it a bit – which seems to have done the trick because the system readiness check completed. Cost me nothing to fix. You were spot on!
