Vauxhall Corsa EV Headlight Washer Mystery

Hey there! Looking for some advice about my 2021 Vauxhall Corsa Electric (139k km). My headlight washers stopped working completely, and I think it might be the rear wiper fluid pump throwing an error. Had a not-so-great experience with my last mechanic, so I'm a bit hesitant to go back. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Would love to hear about your experiences and maybe get a recommendation for a reliable mechanic who knows their way around electric Corsas. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Vauxhall Corsa Electric owner experienced a complete failure of the headlight washers, suspecting an error related to the rear wiper fluid pump. A similar issue was shared by another owner, who found that the problem was due to corrosion around the pump's electrical connections and a defective relay. The recommended solution was to visit a certified Vauxhall dealer for proper diagnostics and repair. Following this advice, the Corsa owner had the issue resolved at a Vauxhall dealer, confirming the problem and successfully fixing it, leading to a positive outcome.

Hey! I had a similar issue with my 2018 Vauxhall Ampera-e last summer. The pump cable connection was giving me trouble with both the headlight washers and rear wipers. Initially thought it was just a blown fuse, but turned out the relay was defective. Got it fixed at my local certified Vauxhall dealer. They found that corrosion had built up around the pump's electrical connections, plus the relay needed replacing. Not a major repair in terms of complexity, but definitely needed proper diagnostic equipment to pinpoint the exact issue. Took about half a day to fix, and it's been working perfectly since then. I'd recommend finding a certified Vauxhall dealer or at least a garage that specializes in electric vehicles. They've got the right diagnostic tools for these newer electric models. Hope this helps point you in the right direction!

Cheers! Thanks for sharing your experience. My situation sounds really similar to what you went through. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks pop up? I've got a good Vauxhall dealer nearby but wasn't sure if it was worth the extra cost compared to a local garage.

Hey again! Yeah, absolutely happy to fill you in! Since you asked about the cost, I paid exactly 165.00 € for fixing the pump cable connection and relay issue at the Vauxhall dealer. And I'm glad to report that since getting it sorted, the rear window wiper fluid pump signal error has completely disappeared, it's been working like a charm! To be honest, going to the Vauxhall dealer was definitely worth it in my case. These electric models can be a bit tricky, and having someone with the right diagnostic equipment made all the difference. My Ampera-e hasn't shown any similar issues since the repair, which was about 8 months ago now. Looking back, I'd say don't hesitate to take it to your nearby Vauxhall dealer. Sure, they might be a bit pricier than your local garage, but they really know their stuff when it comes to these electric models. Better to get it done right the first time, you know what I mean? If you need any other info about my experience, just give me a shout!

Thanks a lot for all that detailed info! I bit the bullet and took my Corsa to the Vauxhall dealer yesterday. Turns out you were spot on, it was a similar issue with the pump connection and relay. Cost me about 175€, which wasn't too bad considering all the horror stories I'd heard. The whole experience was actually pretty smooth. They got it done in about 4 hours, and the service advisor really took the time to explain everything they did. Just took it for a test drive, and both the headlight washers and rear wipers are working perfectly now. Really glad I followed your advice about going to the dealer instead of risking it with a regular garage. Definitely learned my lesson about trying to save a few bucks on repairs, especially with these electric models. Thanks again for helping me out, you saved me a lot of headache!
