Cheers for sharing your experience! Yeah, that's exactly what happened with my Insignia too, the wiring was the culprit. Can't remember if you mentioned how much you ended up paying for the repair? Just wondering if the prices have gone up since then. Also, has everything been working fine with your Astra since the fix? No other electrical gremlins popping up? Mine's been behaving so far, but you never know with these things! Ta!

Hey there! Good to hear back from you! Yeah, since taking my Astra to the mechanic, the cruise control has been working like a charm. The repair cost me €95.00, they had to fix a dodgy cable connection, pretty straightforward job really. It's been running perfectly since then, no other electrical gremlins or any other issues to report. These Vauxhalls can be a bit finicky with their electronics sometimes, but once you get the problem sorted properly, they tend to stay fixed. My cruise control's been working flawlessly for over 8 months now, use it all the time on my motorway commute. Glad to hear your Insignia's been behaving after the fix too! Just keep an eye on it, but I reckon you should be good now. These kinds of electrical issues usually don't come back once they're properly sorted. Take care!

Thanks a lot! Just got back from the mechanic yesterday actually. Mine came to €110, bit more than what you paid, but I guess prices have gone up a bit. The guy I found was brilliant though, really knew his stuff with Vauxhalls. He spotted the issue straight away and had it sorted within an hour. Took it for a proper test drive on the motorway this morning, and the cruise control's working perfectly now. Such a relief! The mechanic also gave it a quick once-over and said everything else looked good, so hopefully won't be seeing him again anytime soon (fingers crossed!). Really appreciate your help with this, saved me a lot of worry knowing what to expect. Think I've found my new go-to mechanic now! Cheers!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my 2010 Vauxhall Astra 2.0 CDTi last winter. The cruise control packed up completely, and the warning light kept coming on. Turned out to be a faulty cable connection between the steering wheel controls and the main control module. Took it to my regular garage, and they found the wiring harness in the steering column had some wear and tear. It wasn't a massive job, they basically had to replace a section of the wiring and reset the system. Nothing too serious, but definitely needed proper diagnosis because these symptoms can also point to other issues. The fix has been solid for about 8 months now, no problems since. Just make sure whoever looks at it has experience with Vauxhall electrical systems, that's pretty crucial for getting it sorted properly first time. Hope this helps!
