Vauxhall Vectra Automatic Transmission Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Vauxhall Vectra diesel with 172,000 km is experiencing erratic shifting, an indicator light, and emergency mode activation. The issues may be caused by worn transmission oil or undervoltage affecting the transmission control unit. A similar case was resolved by addressing an electrical issue and changing the transmission oil. It is recommended to check the electrical system first and then proceed with a transmission oil change.

That's interesting! What was the cause for you? Was it really the transmission oil or something else? Did you also experience undervoltage?

Yes, it was indeed the undervoltage! Apparently, the low voltage was causing the transmission to act erratically. I did a transmission flush and changed the oil, but the problem persisted until I sorted out the electrical issue. I would recommend checking the electrical system first and then visit a workshop.

Thank you so much for the advice! I went to a local workshop. They sorted out the electrical issue, and after changing the transmission oil, everything seems to be working fine now. The repair cost was around 240€. I really appreciate your help!

Hey! I have a Vauxhall Vectra and had similar issues. Your symptoms sound familiar. It could be the transmission oil, but undervoltage messing with the transmission control unit seems plausible. Has the battery been checked recently?
