Vauxhall Vectra cold start issue

My 2007 Vauxhall Vectra diesel runs poorly during cold starts, has a stored error, and higher fuel consumption than usual. I suspect the electric auxiliary heater, maybe the PTC heater. Mileage is 212358 km. Similar issues anyone?

Sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms on my old Renault Megane a few years back. Rough starts, the works. Did you check for any specific error codes related to temperature control or the heater itself? Could also be blower motor, maybe?

Thank you. Could you elaborate on the error codes you encountered with your Renault? And did you also experience increased fuel consumption?

Yeah, the error code pointed directly to a faulty PTC heater. Fuel consumption definitely went up, especially during winter. Honestly, I tried a few things myself, but ended up taking it to a workshop. Best bet, I think, unless you are super confident with car electrics.

I appreciate the confirmation and advice. The workshop diagnosis confirms a defective PTC heater, repair cost will be 350€. Thank you for sharing your experience.
