Vauxhall Vectra Diesel Starting Issue

My 2003 Vauxhall Vectra diesel refuses to start. It has 86,000 km and sometimes stalls when idling. The check engine light is on, and it's running rough when it runs. Fuel consumption is up. I pulled codes and it's throwing fuel pump errors. I've checked fuses, relays, and fuel pump wiring for anything loose. Could a dodgy connection cause this? Similar experiences before I tear the fuel system apart?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Vectra. I had stalling and rough running. Check that your fuel injectors are not clogged. If you have access to diagnostic tools, test if the pump is actually working.

I already tried fuel injector cleaner, but I will check them manually. How did you test your pump? I'm getting error code P0251, which points to the fuel metering valve on the pump itself, but I am not sure if that is the cause.

I didn't test it myself. I just took it to a local garage. They hooked it up to their diagnostics and confirmed the pump wasn't delivering fuel properly. I'd recommend getting it properly diagnosed before you start replacing parts. It could save you time and money.

Okay, I think you're right, I'm in over my head. I'll get it to a workshop. They reckon it's a defective cable or plug connection, and should cost around 95€. I'll post what happens.
