Vauxhall Vectra height control restricted

Alright, car gurus, I'm stumped. My 2008 Vauxhall Vectra (gasoline engine, clocking in at 219473 km) is giving me grief. The height control seems restricted. I've got a warning light glaring at me from the speedometer, and the low beams are acting wonky, shining way too high or too low. The car's sitting unevenly, the front's definitely lower than the back. Plus, it feels like I'm riding a bucking bronco! Hooked it up to a reader and it's throwing an error. Any ideas?

Interesting symptoms. The height control system on these Vectras can be a bit temperamental. The uneven ride and headlight issues definitely point towards a problem with the height adjustment. When you say 'error', do you happen to recall the specific fault code? Was it related to any of the leveling sensors or the control module? Also, can you confirm if your Vectra is equipped with air suspension?

Okay, I'll have to check the exact code again. I think it mentioned something about a sensor fault, but I can't swear to it. As for the air suspension, I don't believe it has that. Where are these leveling sensors usually located? Could a faulty sensor cause all these problems?

Yes, a faulty leveling sensor can absolutely cause all of those issues. The sensors are typically located near the suspension components on each axle. Given the age and mileage of your Vectra, it is plausible that the control rod on the sensor has become defective. Without the precise error code it is hard to be certain, but the symptoms strongly suggest a malfunction there. It might be prudent to have the system properly diagnosed at a workshop.

Thanks for the insight! I did some digging based on your suggestion and found a thread mentioning a broken control rod on the height sensor causing similar problems. Took it to a local shop, and that was exactly it! 110€ later and it's fixed! Appreciate the help!
