Vauxhall Vectra IAC valve issue

Having trouble with my 2003 Vauxhall Vectra, gasoline engine. Check engine light keeps coming on, error memory shows an error related to the idle air control (IAC) valve. The engine sometimes stalls when I'm idling, like at a stop light. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I've checked some of the hoses for leaks, but didn't find anything obvious.

Sounds familiar. I had similar stalling engine issues with my old Renault a few years back. Check engine light, the whole shebang. Turned out, in my case, the intake was heavily contaminated with gunk. Is your Vectra high mileage? How does the engine sound when you start it? Does it rev erratically?

It's done 22736 km. When I start it, it sounds normal for a second, then the revs drop, and sometimes it just dies. What did you do to fix the intake issue on your Renault? Did you clean it yourself, or did you take it to a mechanic?

I tried cleaning it myself at first, but honestly, it was a pain, and I didn't want to mess anything up further. Eventually, I took it to a workshop. They told me the intake was so bad that the IAC valve was completely blocked. They replaced the valve and cleaned the intake manifold. I think you should consider the same.

I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on. The intake was heavily contaminated, and the IAC valve was faulty. They replaced the valve and cleaned everything up. Cost me 425€, but at least it's running smoothly now.
