Vauxhall Vectra Multifunction Steering Wheel Failure
Summary of the thread
The multifunction steering wheel on a 2006 Vauxhall Vectra stopped working, with an error code indicating a potential issue. Possible causes include a faulty control module or a disruption in communication within the steering column. The suggested solution was to check the wiring harness and connectors for continuity. Ultimately, a workshop identified and fixed a defective cable connection, restoring functionality.

I have a multimeter, though I'm no expert with it. When you say 'continuity', what exactly am I looking for?

Continuity refers to an uninterrupted electrical path. The absence of continuity indicates a break or disconnection. Given the age of the vehicle, the most probable cause is a defective cable connection inside the steering wheel. I recommend visiting a qualified workshop to fix this.

Took it to the workshop as suggested. It was a dodgy cable connection in the steering wheel. They sorted it, cost 95€, and now everything's working again. Thanks for your help!

The loss of functionality and a stored error code suggest an issue within the steering wheel's control module or a disruption in communication between the steering wheel and the car's central electronic system. Investigate the wiring harness and connectors within the steering column. Are you proficient with using a multimeter to assess continuity in the wiring?
