Vauxhall Vectra Preheating Issue

Alright, anyone ever seen this? My 2003 Vauxhall Vectra diesel's throwing a fit. The preheating lamp won't switch off, the check engine light's on, and it's puffing out smoke like a chimney when I accelerate. Mileage is at 91029 km. I'm guessing it's something with the preheating control unit, maybe a dodgy wire or plug. Any ideas before I end up throwing money at it?

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen on my Vectra. Was it like the car thought it was always winter, even in summer? Did you notice any rough idling too?

Rough idling, not really, but the 'always winter' thing is spot on! How did you sort it out? Was it a pain to fix?

Okay, so probably the same issue. I never figured out exactly what was wrong myself, I'm afraid. I took it to a workshop to get it checked. They said the heating module was defective.

Right, workshop it is then. Thanks! Turns out it was indeed the preheating unit, just like I thought, a defective cable or plug connection. 95€ and it's all sorted! Appreciate the help!
