Vauxhall Vectra Temperature Sensor Issues

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2004 Vauxhall Vectra diesel. The car's throwing an error related to the outside temperature sensor. This is triggering a cascade of problems: the air conditioning refuses to engage, the windscreen washer jets are freezing up even when it's not THAT cold, and the heated mirrors are completely dead. I've scanned the error memory and it confirms the sensor fault. I've checked the sensor itself and the wiring harness as best I can, but everything looks superficially okay. Given the multiple symptoms, I'm suspecting a dodgy cable or plug connection, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Anyone else experienced something similar? Any advice appreciated!

Summary of the thread

A 2004 Vauxhall Vectra diesel is experiencing issues related to the outside temperature sensor, causing problems with the air conditioning, windscreen washer jets, and heated mirrors. The error memory confirms a sensor fault, and while the sensor and wiring appear superficially fine, a faulty connection is suspected. A similar case was resolved by a workshop identifying a faulty connection, suggesting that professional diagnostics may be necessary to efficiently address the issue.

I had a similar issue with my Vectra. Same symptoms. I'd suspect the sensor connection, but be prepared for more investigation.

Thanks for the quick response! When you say 'similar issue', do you mean all the same symptoms? Did you also get the cascade of problems with the AC, washer jets and heated mirrors? And if so, did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you end up taking it to a workshop?

Yes, all the same symptoms. The sensor malfunction caused all those issues. In the end, I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They were able to diagnose a faulty connection pretty quickly.

OK, thanks for the confirmation! I think I'll check the connections one last time, and then I'll take it to a workshop. It seems like chasing this down myself would be a waste of time without the proper diagnostic equipment. The repair ended up costing me 95€, for anyone else who has the same problem down the line.
