Vectra Diesel Engine Mount Error
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Vauxhall Vectra diesel is experiencing an error indicating a defective engine mount and uneven idling. Initial inspection suggests a possible cable or plug fault. A similar issue was resolved by replacing a defective engine mount, as the problem persisted despite checking cables. It is recommended to have a thorough inspection by a qualified workshop to confirm the cause and proceed with necessary repairs.

Thanks for the insight. Could you elaborate on 'similar'? What symptoms did your Vectra exhibit besides the error codes? Was your problem traced to a cable or plug, or was the mount physically damaged?

My Vectra was shaking like crazy at idle, especially when cold. Thought it would rattle itself apart. The error code was intermittent at first, then constant. I fiddled with some cables, but the problem persisted. I would have bet on the cable harness, but my mechanic suggested that the mount itself was too weak. Eventually, I took it to the workshop, and they confirmed a defective engine mount.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. Given the uncertainty, I'll schedule an appointment with a qualified workshop for a thorough inspection. I received the invoice: the defective engine mount will be replaced for 95€.

I had something similar on my Vectra. Not exactly the same symptoms, but I also had error codes pointing to a failed mount and some seriously weird vibration issues at idle. Check the transmission mount, too; they're often overlooked. Did you check the rubber mount for cracks or excessive play? Seems the cable harness is brittle in older models and can cause the error.
