Vectra GPS Failure

I'm pulling my hair out! I've got a 2004 Vauxhall Vectra, diesel engine, and the GPS is completely dead. The nav system just says 'No GPS Reception'. I checked the error memory and there's an error stored. I'm guessing it's the GPS antenna, but is there anything else it could be? Anyone else had this problem?

Sounds familiar! I've got a Vectra too, and I had something similar happen a while back. Was getting absolutely nothing - no lock, just a blank screen where the map should be. Have you noticed any signal interference beforehand, like around specific buildings or areas? Sometimes it can be tricky car electronics messing things up, but usually it's more simple than that.

Signal interference, you say? Hmmm, that's an interesting thought. I haven't really paid attention to where it cuts out to be honest. I thought GPS was just GPS, you know? Always worked everywhere before. So, when you had this 'similar thing', did you just replace the antenna, or was it something more involved?

Yeah, when mine went, it was just completely dead, like yours. Never picked up a signal, no matter where I was. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was a defective GPS antenna. So, yeah, it really does sound like the antenna is the culprit. I'd get it checked out properly though, just to be sure!

Right, workshop it is then! Thanks for the input, appreciate it. I was just hoping it was going to be a loose wire or something simple. Had it checked out, as you suggested, and you were spot on. Antenna was gone, replaced it and it cost 200€, all working now!
