Vectra intake manifold issue

Hi, I'm having issues with my 2001 Vauxhall Vectra diesel. It's got about 95,000 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed the engine jerking when accelerating, and the check engine light keeps coming on. I've pulled the error codes, and it's pointing to an intake manifold issue. I'm also experiencing reduced engine power, rough idling that sometimes stalls, and a noticeable exhaust smell. I suspect a gasket leak. Has anyone else encountered similar problems with their Vectra's air intake? I'm wondering about the manifold sensor or if it is a simple air intake problem. Any thoughts on where to start?

Hello! I had almost exactly the same symptoms with my Vectra! Jerking, error light, the works. Sounds like your intake manifold could be the culprit. Mine turned out to be leaking. I'd suggest you get it checked out. Did you check the car manifold already?

Thanks for the quick response! When your intake manifold was leaking, did you notice any scorching or obvious signs of damage? And was it affecting your engine performance significantly?

Yes, definitely scorching around the gasket. The mechanic confirmed it was leaking air, causing all sorts of problems with the engine performance. I would take it to a workshop and have them check the gasket leak and air intake. It's probably the car manifold.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turns out the intake manifold was defective due to scorching, causing a pretty significant gasket leak. Ended up costing me 1180€ for the replacement and labor. At least it's running smoothly now!
