Vectra Key Fob Battery
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Vauxhall Vectra owner experienced issues with keyless access and received a 'key battery low' warning. The problem was likely due to a dead key fob battery, as the range was nearly zero. Replacing the battery, typically a CR2032 button cell, resolved the issues without needing reprogramming. If the problem persists, consulting a workshop for error code analysis is recommended.

The range is practically zero; I have to hold the key right next to the door handle for it to work, if it works at all. What battery type does the key fob require? After replacing it, will I need to reprogram the key?

Sounds like a dead battery! No need to reprogram. The key probably takes a CR2032 button cell, but double-check by opening the fob. If a new battery doesn't fix it, visit a local workshop. They can read the error code, but I'm 99% sure it's just the battery.

I replaced the battery in the key fob today, and it resolved all the issues. The keyless entry is working, and the error message disappeared. The total cost, including the battery, was 37€.

I had the same symptoms on my Vectra. Keyless entry failed, the dash showed a battery warning, and I struggled with the doors. First, check the battery. They're cheap and easy. What range do you get now? Does it only work when you're right next to the car?
