Vectra NOx Sensor Issue

Alright Vectra gurus, I've got a 2001 Vauxhall Vectra with a gasoline engine throwing a NOx sensor code. Check engine light's on, there's an error stored, and I'm pretty sure I can smell exhaust. I'm betting it's a dodgy connection, anyone seen this before?

A NOx sensor issue on a Vectra? Oh, I know that pain all too well! Had a similar thing with mine – although I didn't smell exhaust. Was your air-fuel ratio all over the place too? Did it affect the catalytic converter efficiency? Seriously annoying, isn't it, when the car thinks it's saving the planet but just isn't?

Air-fuel ratio seems normal, haven't checked the cat yet. But I'm leaning towards electrical since I'm smelling exhaust. What exactly was the 'similar thing' you experienced? Was it just the check engine light or did you have other symptoms?

Okay, so my Vectra had the check engine light and the error code for the NOx sensor, same as you. Exhaust smell could mean a leak around the sensor, potentially damaged threads. I would highly recommend a workshop, where the error memory can be read out. And yes, it is definitely the nitrogen oxide sensor. A new sensor including installation will probably cost around 95€.

Cheers for the info! I'll check the wiring first, then probably bite the bullet and get it to a shop. New sensor it is, sounds like.
