Vectra Overheating Fan Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2002 Vauxhall Vectra diesel. It's done 241059 km and recently started overheating. The electric fan doesn't seem to be kicking in when it should. I suspect it's a dodgy cable or plug connection to the fan. Anyone else had a similar issue?

Overheating Vectra, eh? Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Vectra, and it drove me nuts. Have you checked the fan clutch? It could be that simple. Is the fan spinning freely when the engine is off?

I did check the fan spins freely. When you say similar, do you mean the fan wasn't running at all, causing the overheating? Was it also a connection issue in your case, or something else entirely?

Exactly! No fan, no cooling, just rising temperatures. I fiddled with it for ages, but in the end, I caved and took it to a workshop. Best 95€ I've ever spent. Saved me a potential head gasket disaster. My advice? Get it checked properly.

I appreciate the insight. Sounds like I'm heading for the workshop then. Good to know what the eventual repair cost was in your case, too. Cheers!
