Vectra Torque Converter Slipping Grinding

My 2008 Vauxhall Vectra diesel has thrown a wrench in the works. Getting some nasty slipping and grinding when it shifts. Check engine light and transmission indicator are both lit. Error code points to the torque converter. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds like a torque converter clutch problem, yeah. Does the engine seem to surge at all when it's trying to lock up? Mileage?

Yeah, there's a bit of a surge. Mileage is about 211280 km. What's the worst-case scenario here?

Likely the converter's toast. Grinding noises and slipping usually mean internal damage. At that mileage, it's not unexpected. Time for a shop visit, I reckon.

That confirms my suspicions. Shop diagnosed a defective torque converter. Cost me 2120€ to get it sorted, but she's running smooth again.
