Vectra Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor Fault

My 2000 Vauxhall Vectra with a gasoline engine is showing a transmission oil pressure sensor fault at 168532 km. The engine warning light comes on and off, there's an error stored, and the gearbox sometimes goes into emergency mode. It slips or shifts roughly, and I hear grinding when changing gears. Could it be low gearbox oil? Has anyone else had this?

I think I know this one. I had something similar with my Vectra. Same symptoms – warning lights, rough shifting. Did you check the simple things first, like the oil level itself? Because that was the kicker for me.

I checked the oil level, and it seemed okay. What was your experience exactly? Was it also the oil pressure sensor, and did topping up fix it, or was there more?

Topping up the oil didn't solve it completely. It improved things briefly, but the problem returned. I had to take it to a workshop; they said it was the sensor but also found wear in the gearbox. Getting a professional opinion might be wise.

Thanks for the advice. I had the car looked at, and the oil pressure sensor was indeed faulty, plus there was a leak in the transmission. The repair was 365€.
