Vectra vehicle coding issue
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Vauxhall Vectra owner experienced error messages on the infotainment system and speedometer, with a diagnostic scanner indicating a vehicle coding issue. The problem likely stemmed from previous electrical work that may have affected the coding. The recommended solution was to visit a workshop for professional recoding, which successfully resolved the issue.

Yes, the scanner gave me a specific OBD-II fault code, but I didn't write it down. I haven't replaced any control modules recently, but I did have some work done on the electrics last year. Is it possible the coding got messed up then?

It's certainly possible that the coding was affected during the electrical work. If you didn't write down the fault code I suggest that you read it again. I would strongly advise you to visit a trusted workshop to have the coding checked and corrected. This is usually the fastest solution. You probably won't be able to fix the coding issue by yourself.

I took it to a workshop, and it turned out the vehicle coding was indeed incorrect. They recoded it, and the error messages are gone. The whole repair cost me 360€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I once experienced similar issues with my Vectra. Error messages popping up all over the place. Did the diagnostic scanner give you a specific fault code? And have you had any work done on the car recently that might have affected the coding, such as replacing a control module?
