Vel Satis ABS and Steering Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Renault Vel Satis exhibited issues with the ABS light being on, a vibrating steering wheel, and heavy steering, alongside a low tire pressure warning. Despite checking and inflating the tires, the problem persisted. It was suggested that a faulty tire sensor or valve might be the cause. Upon inspection at a workshop, a leaky tire valve was identified as the issue, which, once replaced, resolved the ABS and steering problems.

Good shout! I did give them a quick visual once-over, but didn't do anything more thorough than that. Is that where your issue was, then?

Yup, turned out to be a slightly leaky valve on one of the tires. The tire monitoring system is quite sensitive. Given the other symptoms you're experiencing, it might be best to get it checked out at a workshop. They'll be able to pinpoint the exact cause.

I appreciate the advice. Took it to the shop, and you were spot on – faulty valve in the tire. New valve fitted, and all the warnings are gone, steering is back to normal. Cost me 280€, but worth it for peace of mind. Seems the faulty reading screwed with the ABS and power steering. All sorted now!

Sounds familiar. I had something similar happen on my old Saab 9-3 a few years back. Kept getting tire pressure warnings even though the tires were properly inflated. Did you check the valve itself for any signs of air leak?
