Vel Satis damping adjustment fault
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Renault Vel Satis displayed a 'damping adjustment fault' warning, coinciding with a noticeably bumpier ride. The issue was traced to a corroded plug on one of the shocks, which was confirmed by a workshop. The solution involved cleaning the plug and replacing a section of the cable, resolving the problem and restoring a smooth ride.

The bumpy ride definitely started around the same time as the warning light. I had a quick look at the plugs, but didn't see anything obvious. Should I be looking for anything specific?

Sounds like exactly what I had. Could be a faulty sensor or a broken wire. Honestly, best bet is to get it checked out by a workshop. It's probably a simple fix, but messing with suspension can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.

Took it to the shop, and you were spot on! It was a corroded plug on one of the shocks, like you suggested. They cleaned it up and replaced a small section of the cable. Cost me 95€, but the ride is smooth now! Thanks for the advice!

I had a similar issue with my Vel Satis! Was the bumpy ride there before the warning light, or did it all happen at once? I’d check the plugs and connections to the shocks themselves. Were they dirty?
