Vel Satis Transmission Issues

Has anyone with a 2005 gasoline Renault Vel Satis experienced transmission issues? Mine has 144425 km, engine light and sometimes a transmission warning. It's gone into limp mode, shifting's rough, and I occasionally hear a grind. I suspect the transmission oil temperature sensor.

Rough shifting and a grinding noise? Sounds familiar! I have a Vel Satis as well. Have you checked your transmission oil level? That was the problem when I had similar symptoms. What error codes are you getting?

Oil level too low? Interesting, I hadn't considered that. The error code points directly to the transmission oil temp sensor, so I immediately suspected that. Is it possible a low oil level could trigger a faulty sensor reading?

That's exactly what happened to me. The low fluid level caused the sensor to read funny and throw the code. Honestly, considering the symptoms and the error code, I'd definitely get it checked by a workshop. I needed to replace the sensor in the end anyway.
