Veloster rough running and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Hyundai Veloster was experiencing rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion was a defective cable or plug connection. However, after further discussion, it was suggested that a faulty ignition coil could be the cause. A misfire code confirmed ignition issues, and replacing the defective ignition coil resolved the problem, restoring smooth operation.

Thank you for your reply. I haven't checked the ignition coils specifically, but I did a general scan and got a misfire code. Could a faulty ignition coil actually cause the stalling issue too?

A misfire code definitely suggests ignition problems. Yes, a failing ignition coil can absolutely cause stalling, especially at idle. It sounds very similar to what I experienced. I'd suggest having a professional diagnose it properly. Why don't you take it to a workshop?

I appreciate your advice! It turned out to be a defective ignition coil as you suspected. Replaced it and the car runs smoothly again. The repair cost me 95€. Thanks again!

Interesting. I also drive a Veloster. Rough running and stalling could point to ignition issues. Have you checked the ignition coils? A faulty coil can cause all sorts of havoc. Are you getting any specific error codes when the check engine light illuminates?
