Summary of the thread
A 2009 Renault VelSatis diesel is experiencing poor starting and reduced engine power, with an error indicating a camshaft sensor defect. The initial suspicion is a cable or plug connection issue. After a workshop diagnosis, the problem is confirmed to be a defective plug connection on the camshaft sensor, which is then repaired.

Thanks! I did a quick visual check, but didn't find anything obvious. Was your issue specifically related to the wiring, or did it end up being the sensor itself?

In my case, after closer inspection, the wiring harness was indeed defective. I would recommend a thorough check. Considering the symptoms and fault code you're seeing, it might be best to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop. They'll have the tools to pinpoint the exact cause.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right. It was a defective plug connection on the camshaft sensor. Repair cost me 95€. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar experience with my VelSatis. Those symptoms – poor start, power loss, and that camshaft sensor error – sound very familiar. I would check all the connections first. Have you visually inspected the wiring harness for any damage or corrosion?
