Clogged PCV valve, interesting. Was it difficult to diagnose properly? Any specific symptoms that pointed to that?

Diagnosing it took a bit, but the persistent smoke, combined with poor engine performance, was a major clue. Given your VelSatis's symptoms and the ventilation system involvement, I'd advise having it checked by a professional workshop.

Thanks for the insight. Took it to the workshop; indeed the crankcase ventilation valve was defective. Repair cost 360€. I'll make sure to keep the ventilation system in mind for future maintenance.

That sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Opel Insignia – check engine light, loss of power, and even some smoke. It turned out to be a clogged PCV valve. Emissions were way off!
