VelSatis Intake Hose Leak
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault VelSatis with high fuel consumption, a check engine light, and a hissing sound on acceleration suggests an air intake leak. Possible causes include issues with the turbocharger, intake manifold, or throttle body. Inspection of all intake hoses is recommended, as a compromised intake hose was identified as the source of the problem. Replacing the faulty hose resolved the issue.

Yes, I've noticed a slight decrease in performance, especially in acceleration. Could you explain the air leak you had with your Opel Insignia and any diagnostic insights? Any details on symptoms or troubleshooting steps would be great.

On my Insignia, it was a split in the intake hose after the MAF sensor. Small split, but caused issues. Given the symptoms and age of your VelSatis, inspect all intake hoses thoroughly. A workshop will probably find a leak quickly.

Following your recommendation, I took my VelSatis to a workshop. A compromised intake hose was the air leak source, as you suspected. The replacement cost, including labor, was about 100€ . Thanks for the help!

I had a similar problem with my 2012 Opel Insignia. High fuel consumption and a hissing noise definitely point to an air leak. Has the car's performance changed noticeably?
