The horn isn't working either, now that you mention it. Is it something I can fix myself, or am I better off taking it to a workshop?

Given the horn isn't working, it really does sound like that spiral cable. While technically you could replace it yourself, it involves disconnecting the airbag and steering wheel, which can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to be on the safe side. Airbags are not to be trifled with!

Okay, that makes sense. I'll take it to a shop then. Turns out it was indeed the cable connection, the workshop fixed it for 95€. Much appreciated!

I had a similar problem with my Vel Satis. Is the horn still working? If not, it's likely a faulty connection in the steering wheel itself. The 'clock spring' or 'spiral cable' inside the steering wheel connects all the electrical components, like the buttons, to the car's electrical system while still allowing the wheel to turn. If that breaks, you lose all functions.
