The error is constant, always there. I haven't had any bodywork done recently, no. If it is the antenna, is there a way to properly test it, or is it just a matter of swapping it out and hoping for the best? Is there a way to check the antenna ground?

The consistent nature of the error suggests a more definitive fault. While component-level diagnosis is feasible with the appropriate equipment, the cost-effectiveness of such an approach on a vehicle of this age is questionable. Given your description and troubleshooting efforts, directing the vehicle to a workshop equipped with Renault-specific diagnostic tools may be the most expeditious course of action. They can perform a more thorough system analysis.

Thanks for the input. I suspected as much. Bit the bullet and took it to a local shop. They confirmed it was a defective antenna and replaced it. Bill came to 255€. Reception is back to normal now.

Greetings. The symptoms you describe could indeed point to an antenna issue, though it's prudent to consider other possibilities. Have you ascertained whether the error message is consistently present, or does it appear intermittently? Furthermore, has the vehicle been subject to any recent bodywork repairs, particularly around the antenna base? A compromised ground connection can manifest in the manner you describe.
