VelSatis Rail Pressure Sensor Fault

My 2002 VelSatis diesel is throwing a hissy fit. Check engine light's on, idles rough, and the power is way down. I scanned it and it's showing a faulty rail pressure sensor signal. With only 41236 km on the clock that thing should still work fine! Anybody else run into this? Could it be something else before I throw money at a new sensor?! This fuel injection stuff is starting to get on my nerves!

I had a somewhat similar issue with my old BMW 5 series diesel back in '18. The symptoms sound almost identical but the cause was a faulty camshaft sensor. Check the wiring to the rail pressure sensor before replacing anything.

Wiring, huh? Thanks for that tip! Which wire exactly are you referring to on the rail, I am going to check this tomorrow, and should i be on the lookout for something specific, like corrosion?

I do not know the exact wire and sensor for your car, but I recommend checking the pins to the sensor and the wire harness, for corrosion. I strongly recommend going to a proper workshop and having it diagnosed by a professional.

Thanks a lot for the insights! I ended up replacing the pressure sensor today and the problem is resolved! Cost me 240€ in parts and labour. Car's running smooth again!
