Thanks for the quick reply! Vehicle diagnostics sounds expensive. When you say coil connections, what exactly am I looking for? Is it obvious, or do I need special tools to check?

Vehicle diagnostics can be a bit pricey, but it's usually cheaper than randomly replacing parts. As for the coil connections, I meant checking for any obvious signs of damage – cracks in the plastic, corrosion on the metal parts, or if any of the wires are loose or frayed. You shouldn't need special tools for a visual inspection, just a good light. Honestly, based on your symptoms, I'd say it's worth taking it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the issue and replace the coil pack if needed. It's not a super complicated job, but it requires some know-how.

Okay, I appreciate the advice! I bit the bullet and took it to a shop. Turns out it was indeed a defective ignition coil, just as I suspected. The cable was also a bit corroded. They replaced the coil, cleaned up the connections, and the car is running smoothly again. The final repair cost was 95€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, but it was a diesel. Check engine light, rough running, the whole shebang. For me, it ended up being a bad coil pack. Have you had the vehicle diagnostics run? That check engine light usually throws a code that can pinpoint the problem. Also, when you checked the spark plugs, did you look closely at the coil connections? A loose or corroded connection can cause all sorts of havoc.
