VelSatis rough running engine misfire

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2002 Renault VelSatis (gasoline engine). It's got about 200k km on it. Lately, the engine's been running really rough, the check engine light is on, and it jerks when I accelerate. Feels like the power is way down. Could this be a combustion misfire? I saw something about it being related to the injection valve/injector. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my VelSatis a while back. Cylinder misfire and rough idle, plus the check engine light. Have you checked the ignition coils? Sometimes that can cause similar symptoms. Did you notice any specific cylinder that's misfiring?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the ignition coils yet, but that's a good point. How would I figure out which cylinder is misfiring? Is there a way to tell without special equipment?

Unfortunately, without proper diagnostic tools, pinpointing the exact cylinder is tricky. Since you're experiencing jerking and power loss, a defective fuel injector seems more probable. It could be the root cause, which is why I took mine straight to the workshop.

Thanks so much for the advice! I think I'll take it to a workshop and have them check the fuel injectors. I'll let you know how it goes. Turns out it was indeed the injector. Cost me 515€ but at least it's fixed now!
