VelSatis start stop problem
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Renault VelSatis owner experienced issues with the start-stop system, receiving an error message, engine shutdown, and a warning light. The problem was identified as the car failing to automatically restart after shutting off. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a heavily discharged battery. Following this advice, the owner had the battery checked at a workshop, confirming it as the cause of the problem.

Thanks for your reply. It shuts off okay, but it won't automatically restart. Does that sound like what you experienced?

Yep, that's exactly what was happening with my Insignia. In my case, it turned out the battery was heavily discharged. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop to get it checked. They can properly diagnose the problem. I think it is the battery, and you can save a lot of time by taking it to the shop immediately.

Thanks! I took your advice and went to the workshop. You were right, it was the car battery! Repair cost was 290€. Thanks a lot for your help!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2012 Opel Insignia. The start-stop kept failing. Does it struggle to automatically restart after it shuts off, or does it just refuse to activate at all?
