VelSatis throttle valve issue

I'm having trouble with my 2002 Renault VelSatis (gasoline engine). Fuel consumption has increased a lot lately, and the engine is hard to start. Diagnostics point to a defective throttle valve. I suspect the accelerator pedal module. The car has 177871 km on it. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I had similar issues with my VelSatis. Has the engine idle become erratic, too? If so, the throttle body is likely gunked up or the engine throttle itself is failing. Check the throttle position sensor readings if you can. That could give you a definitive answer.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the engine idle has been a little unstable. The throttle position sensor readings jump around a bit. Was it definitely the accelerator pedal module in your case, or was it something else entirely?

In my case, it was the accelerator pedal module causing the wonky readings. While cleaning the throttle body might help temporarily, the underlying issue will likely persist. Based on your description, I'd recommend getting it checked at a reputable workshop.

Alright, I understand. Thank you so much for the advice! I went to the workshop and it was indeed the accelerator pedal module. The repair cost me 205€. Now the car is starting smoothly and the fuel efficiency is back to normal!
