Venue exhaust temperature sensor issue

Has anyone experienced engine management problems with their 2023 Hyundai Venue diesel? The check engine light illuminates intermittently, engine power is reduced, and fuel consumption is up. It has 91355 km. I suspect a faulty exhaust temperature sensor, possibly from an exhaust leak.

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Hyundai Venue diesel exhibited engine management problems, including an intermittent check engine light, reduced engine power, and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause was a faulty exhaust temperature sensor, potentially due to an exhaust leak. After consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that an exhaust leak had indeed damaged the exhaust temperature sensor, which was then replaced to resolve the issue.

Hey there. I also own a Hyundai Venue. Your issue sounds familiar. I recall having similar symptoms a while back – check engine light, sluggish performance, and the fuel economy tanked. I never thought about the exhaust system, but I remember the workshop talking about temperature fluctuation. Maybe it's something similar for you too?

Could you elaborate on the specific exhaust component that was problematic in your case? Was it indeed related to the exhaust temperature sensor or another part of the exhaust entirely? Do you recall any specific diagnostic codes that were flagged during the troubleshooting process?

To be honest, I am not very knowledgeable about technical car stuff. I just remember the mechanic saying it was linked to some temperature thing in the exhaust. I'd recommend taking your Venue to a workshop and letting them run proper diagnostics. They will be able to pinpoint the exact issue.

I scheduled an appointment with a trusted local workshop. They confirmed a leak in the exhaust system, which damaged the exhaust temperature sensor, so I had it replaced. The total cost was about 265€. Thanks for sharing your experience; it helped guide my troubleshooting.
