I'm not a mechanic, but my issue was similar, and it ended up being a corroded connector causing intermittent communication. I'd recommend taking it to a trusted shop so they can pinpoint it exactly. Saved me a lot of guesswork and potential damage.

Thanks, that's helpful! Took it to a local shop, and you were spot on. Turns out it was a corroded connector on the CAN bus, just like you said. Cost me 95€ to get it fixed. Runs like a champ now!

I had something similar with my Venza. Check the data link connector and the CAN bus wiring. Could be a connectivity issue messing with everything. Is the error code related to the control module?
