Venza Hybrid High Voltage System Error

Hi, I'm experiencing a strange issue with my 2022 Toyota Venza Hybrid. It's got about 151005 km on it. I'm getting a high-voltage system error message. The engine sometimes shuts off, and I've definitely noticed reduced engine power. The error is stored in the error memory. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Toyota Venza Hybrid with 151,005 km is experiencing a high-voltage system error, leading to engine shutdowns and reduced power. The issue is likely due to a heavily discharged or defective high-voltage battery, possibly exacerbated by faulty electrical wiring or a malfunctioning voltage sensor. It is recommended to have a qualified technician assess the battery's health and inspect the electrical wiring for corrosion, as these are common causes of such errors.

A high-voltage system error in a hybrid can stem from several sources. The stored error code would be very helpful. Has the vehicle experienced any recent events, such as running the battery down completely, or unusual electrical modifications? Battery condition, electrical wiring integrity, and voltage sensor function are prime suspects.

Thanks for the quick reply! The battery has been getting low lately, particularly if I don't drive it for a few days. Where should I start looking regarding the electrical wiring and voltage sensor?

Given the symptoms and the battery's discharge behavior, a heavily discharged or defective high-voltage battery is the likely culprit. Diagnosing high-voltage systems requires specialized tools and knowledge. For safety and accuracy, I would recommend a qualified technician to assess the battery's health and perform diagnostic tests. This requires to check the electrical wiring for corrosion and measure the voltage.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. Turned out the high-voltage battery was indeed defective. Total repair cost was 290€ to replace a faulty electrical wiring to the battery!
