Venza Hybrid Low Oil Pressure
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Toyota Venza Hybrid is experiencing intermittent low oil pressure warnings and unusual engine noises at 61,745 km. Despite checking the oil level, thickness, and for leaks, the issue persists, leading to a suspicion of a faulty oil pump. A mechanic confirmed the oil pump was indeed the problem, and it was replaced to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't checked the engine bearings yet. Since the car is new, I didn't think about that. But I haven't scanned for codes either. Can you tell me more about how you checked the engine bearings?

I did oil pressure tests at different engine speeds. The pressure was off compared to what it should be. Then, a mechanic used a stethoscope to listen to the engine and thought it was the bearings. They took off the oil pan to look at the bottom of the engine. Since our problems are similar, I wouldn't drive it anymore and get it checked by a mechanic.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and they said the oil pump was bad, like I thought. It cost 755€ for parts and labor. Thanks again for your help!

That sounds familiar. I had the same thing happen with my 2018 Volvo XC60: low oil pressure and strange engine noises. I thought it was the oil pressure sensor or clogged oil lines, but those were fine. Have you checked the engine bearings? Low oil pressure can be caused by bad bearings, which create too much space and lower the pressure. Also, have you used a scanner to check for error codes?
