Venza Lean Fuel Condition
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Toyota Venza is experiencing a lean fuel condition, indicated by reduced engine power, a check engine light, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. The suspected cause is a problem with the fuel injection system. Suggestions include checking for intake manifold leaks, faulty oxygen sensors, a stuck EGR valve, or a dirty throttle body. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosed and resolved the issue by replacing a defective fuel injector.

Thanks! Can you explain how to check the oxygen sensor? Could a bad EGR valve or a dirty throttle body cause the lean condition?

A faulty EGR valve stuck open can definitely cause a lean condition by letting too much exhaust gas into the intake. A dirty throttle body restricts airflow, which could mess with the air/fuel ratio, too. For the oxygen sensor, you'd need a multimeter to check its voltage output. Honestly, with all those potential causes, you may be better off taking it to a trusted workshop. They can run diagnostics and pinpoint the exact problem. Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and they found a defective fuel injector and replaced it. Total cost was 515€. The car runs great now. Thanks again for your help.

A lean condition on the Venza isn't fun. Have you checked your intake manifold for leaks? A cracked manifold can cause extra air to enter, mimicking a faulty injector. Also, check your oxygen sensor – if it's sending incorrect readings, the computer might miscalculate the fuel mixture. Worth a quick look!
