Venza low brake fluid brake pedal issue
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Toyota Venza owner noticed low brake fluid and a strange brake pedal feel. The issue was identified as worn brake pads, causing the brake fluid level to drop as the calipers compensated. The suggested solution was to have the brake pads checked and replaced if necessary. The owner took the car to a workshop, where the front brakes were replaced, and the brake fluid was topped off, resolving the issue.

Hmm, interesting. Worn brake pads can cause that? How could I check the pads? Is it easy to do?

Yeah, definitely possible. The fluid level drops as the pistons extend further to compensate for the worn material. Checking them isn't too hard if you know what to look for but maybe it's best to get it checked by a mechanic? If the pads look ok, it could be something else in the brake system.

Thanks! I took it to a workshop, and you were right. The front brakes were worn, and they replaced them and topped off the brake fluid. Cost me 480€, but at least it's fixed.

Hey there. I had a similar thing happen with my old Saab, though it was much older. Brake fluid was disappearing, and the pedal felt weird. Turns out I had worn brake pads and the fluid level dropped as the calipers compensated. Is it possible your pads could be getting thin?
