Veracruz Control Unit Communication Error
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Hyundai Veracruz diesel exhibited a control unit communication error, leading to engine overheating, a check engine light, and coolant leakage due to overpressure. The suspected cause was a defective cable or plug connection. After inspecting the data link connector for corrosion and damage, a faulty plug connection was identified and repaired, resolving the issue.

Where exactly is the data link connector located on the Veracruz? And is there a specific tool needed to properly test it, or can I visually inspect it?

The data link connector is usually under the dash, near the steering column. You can visually inspect it for corrosion, but to properly test the connection and signal, you'd need a multimeter or a CAN bus analyzer. Given the overheating and coolant leak, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a shop, and you were right. It was a connectivity issue. They found a faulty plug connection and fixed it for 95€. Everything seems fine now.

Sounds like a potential CAN bus issue. Have you checked the data link connector for any obvious corrosion or damage? A faulty connection there can cause all sorts of communication problems between the control modules.
