Veracruz diesel power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Hyundai Veracruz diesel is experiencing a noticeable power drop, rough engine performance, jerking, loud hissing during acceleration, and increased fuel consumption. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the intake manifold flap control. It is recommended to scan the vehicle for error codes to confirm the diagnosis and address the problem efficiently.

I don't have my own scanner, so I haven't checked for error codes. Is it worth getting it scanned before I start?

Definitely get it scanned. It will save you time and money. It could be a faulty sensor or a broken actuator. Given the symptoms, especially the hissing, I'd guess a problem within the intake manifold flap control is likely. I took my BMW to a workshop. Replacing the faulty part sorted everything. Cost me around 500€, but worth it.

Okay, I'll get it scanned ASAP and see what codes pop up. Then, I'll book it in at a local garage if it's pointing towards the intake manifold flap control. Thanks for the help!

Sounds familiar! I had the same symptoms with my old BMW 320d. Reduced power, rough running. It was something to do with the intake system. The car felt like it was choking. Did you get any error codes when you scanned the car?
