Veracruz Engine Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Hyundai Veracruz is experiencing engine stalling at idle, an illuminated check engine light, and reduced power. The suspected cause is a defective fuel volume regulator, potentially due to a faulty high-pressure fuel pump. Similar symptoms in another Veracruz were resolved by addressing these components. A professional diagnosis at a workshop is recommended to confirm and fix the issue.

Did your Veracruz show any other unusual behavior before the fuel volume regulator failed completely? Were there any subtle hints I might have missed?

Before it failed, my Veracruz had intermittent rough idling, almost like a slight tremor. There were also occasional engine misfires, especially during cold starts. It was as if the engine was clearing its throat. Given your symptoms, I suspect a defective high-pressure pump is causing the fuel volume regulator issue. I'd recommend a trusted workshop for a diagnosis. I had to spend 1510€ to fix that.

Your explanations have given me the clarity to proceed with repairs. A trip to the workshop is in order. I'll report back with the final diagnosis.

I had similar issues with my Veracruz. The illuminated check engine light, stalling at idle, and reduced engine power match my experience. For me, it was a failing fuel volume regulator caused by a defective high-pressure fuel pump. Think of it like a heart struggling to pump blood; the fuel volume regulator is the valve, and if the pump is weak, the valve can't do its job properly. Have you checked the car sensors and fuel injection?
