Veracruz Oil Pressure Light and Engine Noise

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2008 Hyundai Veracruz, gasoline engine, with 168383 km. The oil pressure warning lamp is on and there are loud mechanical noises from the engine. Could this be serious?

I had a similar experience with my Veracruz. Intermittent oil pressure light, engine sounding like a bag of spanners! Have you checked the basics – oil level, any signs of oil leakage? It could be something simple, but honestly, it sounds like your oil pump is on its way out. The noises are what worry me most, those sound like engine bearings not getting enough oil. How does the oil pressure gauge look when it happens?

The oil level is fine, and there's no oil leakage. My vehicle doesn't have an oil pressure gauge. How did you fix the oil pressure issue in your Veracruz?

Ah, no gauge makes it harder to diagnose. In my case, it was a defect in the oil pump. The pump wasn't providing enough pressure, which starved the engine, hence the racket. If the oil light is on and you hear mechanical noises, I'd advise not driving it. Get it to a workshop ASAP. Continuing to drive it could cause more damage - like blowing the engine completely! The repair bill was around 755€, but that's better than a new engine.

I appreciate your advice. Based on your description, I suspect it's an oil pump failure. The vehicle is at a local mechanic for diagnosis and repair. Your experience helped me understand the potential issue. Thanks again.
