Veracruz poor starting and high fuel consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Hyundai Veracruz diesel is experiencing poor starting and increased fuel consumption. The initial suspicion is a defective throttle valve, but the possibility of a faulty accelerator pedal module is also considered. After professional diagnosis, it is confirmed that the accelerator pedal module is indeed defective and requires replacement.

No unusual noises that I can hear. How did you pinpoint the issue on your BMW?

In my case, a diagnostic scan pointed towards erratic signals from the throttle position sensor. Though your Veracruz is different, the underlying principle is the same. Given the symptoms, it would be prudent to have it professionally diagnosed. A faulty accelerator pedal module might need replacing, but a workshop can confirm.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the workshop; you were right. The accelerator pedal module was defective. Repair cost me 205€.

I had similar symptoms with my older BMW 3 series. Fuel efficiency tanked, and starting became a chore. Have you checked for any unusual noises from the air intake or throttle body? A malfunctioning accelerator pedal module could indeed be the culprit, but it's worth eliminating other possibilities first.
